Our 2006 Seminar

Great communications with other refiners is what CatCracking.com is all about.

You see some initial articles on cat cracking operations and safety (sticking valves, torch oil, afterburning). We encourage you to contribute your own articles, particularly experiences that illustrate safety and reliability principles. These would include novel procedures, near-misses, successful applications, or any items which can enhance safety and reliability, and which would be of interest to others.

HS-FCC

A "revolutionary" heavy oil refining technology being developed in Japan has the potential to make available additional volumes of feedstock to create new petrochemical capacity in Alberta in the not-too-distant future.

Called high-severity fluid catalytic cracking (HS-FCC) refinery, the pilot project is capable of converting low-value gas-oils to higher yields of high-value feedstock for use in petrochemical processes. In simple terms, it could convert heavy oil to streams of ethane, propane and butane. See news forum
